  Southgate church is a non-denominational church that was planted in October 1996. We are affiliated with Ministers Fellowship International [www.mfi-online.org]. We gathered in school gyms for a number of years until we began leasing our present space in Langley City Mall. The ministry of the church has been significantly influenced by our location in the city centre.

  “Passionately loving God and committed to loving people for the cause of Christ” is our foundational statement based on the passage of scripture Mark 12:29-31: “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one. And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Here are a few things that we love as a church.

WORSHIP: We love Jesus – We are passionate about the living and abiding presence of Christ in our lives. We love worshipping together as a congregation but we also desire to worship God with every part of our daily lives. We love singing songs of love and thankfulness to God.

COMMUNITY: We love people – Living life alongside each other in Christ-centered community is something we strongly encourage. We desire to foster strong relationships with each other through small groups and meeting together. We have a strong commitment to serve one another and our city. We have many ministries focused on reaching out into our neighborhoods and our city.

GENERATIONS: We love every generation – We work hard to see every generation serving together to accomplish God’s plan for our church and His Kingdom. We emphasize building individual families as well as the family of God. We also have a strong conviction of raising up and training the next generation.

MISSIONS: We love the world – God has called us to plant churches across Canada and around the world. We also pursue many other missions’ opportunities around the world. We are committed to building relationship with local churches.
